Manager of Environmental Services

Essential Job Duties:

The primary responsibility is to assist in managing the Environmental Services Department under the direction of the Assistant Director. Tasks include scheduling, enforcing standards, overseeing inventory/equipment, troubleshooting, training staff, handling customer relations, and special projects. This role prepares individuals for operational department duties through hands-on training and experience under the Assistant Director's guidance.

  • Participate in staff selection process, conducting interviews and managing scheduling.
  • Assign personnel to work areas or project duties.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and manage materials inventory and equipment usage.
  • Ensure proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education for staff.
  • Provide individual guidance and motivation for staff performance improvement.
  • Implement progressive disciplinary guidelines when necessary.
  • Provide weekly variance reports, including staffing updates, supply needs, quality checks, disciplinary actions, and employee engagement projects.
  • Maintain a sanitary, attractive, and orderly environment.
  • Promote the organization's culture, values, and management philosophy.
  • Demonstrate quality leadership in meeting performance plans.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required, college degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a service-related field with high customer/client contact
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams and collaborate with other departments.
