Job Summary

Under supervision, the position performs professional accounting and financial duties for UC Davis Health and supporting the general accounting for the Shared Services Center. Under direction, plan, develop and coordinate professional financial analysis and have broad knowledge of general ledger and budgetary systems, accounting, and healthcare financial practices. Process transactions and provides analyses as part of the centralized shared services support to operational units. Prepare financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to variance analysis reports, financial statements, and other ad-hoc financial reports for presenting to various levels of personnel, from departmental staff to senior management. Provides support to improve finance processes. Acts as a general accounting liason to various departments on an assortment of multifaceted projects, including system implementations, process designs and redesigns, and financial system training. Prepares workflows and recommendations to assist the organization in improving Health System general accounting recording and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting or related filed and/or equivalent experience and training required.
  • More than one (1) year of accounting experience required.
  • Intermediate experience with general ledger accounting transactions
  • Knowledge of accounting-related skills
  • Knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems
  • Knowledge of GAAP theories and practices
  • Knowledge analysis of moderate accounting projects
  • Strong MS Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio. Intermediate skill set in Microsoft Excel, including (but not limited to) Pivots, Sumifs, IFs, and Vlookups.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of common desktop/web applications
  • Ability to apply more advanced accounting concepts in the completion of assignments.
  • Ability to gather, organize and perform.
  • Share information with and receive information from customers and colleagues using effective, clear, persuasive and audience-appropriate verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Make decisions based upon relevant information while using sound judgement and integrity.
  • Inspire others toward a common vision, while fostering trust, ethics and credibility with customers and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or CPA candidate desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related filed and/or equivalent experience and training preferred
  • 2 to 3 years accounting experience desired
