Entry level professional, focused primarily on developing knowledge and skills. Responsible for providing patient services at a basic level using medical ultrasound under the supervision of a physician responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. Provides effective patient care and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback.
Performs appropriate ultrasound procedures and records anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
Assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases.
Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
Provides patient education related to medical ultrasound.
Records and processes sonographic data.
Provides patient services in a variety of medical settings.
Performs quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring proper safety standards are met.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Associate?s degree preferred.
Experience: Entry level, at least 1 year of clinical experience (including time spent in an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program) – must have at least 6 months scanning experience.
License/Certification: Registered Vascular Technologist certification required within 12 months of hire. ARDMS or ARRT (S) certification required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive); Repetitive motion: (computer keyboard). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
