Description

The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for one (1) part-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) at the rank of Teaching Associate to join the Inpatient Palliative Care Consult Service (PCC). This will be a 0.6 FTE position with an anticipated start date of February 1, 2025, or soon thereafter.

Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Standards of Practice and Performance

  • Provide timely initial patient and family assessment for palliative care consults
  • Facilitates the palliative care consultation meeting with interprofessional palliative care team in collaboration with the primary and other consulting clinical teams
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of palliative care interventions, including acute and chronic pain and symptom management
  • Collaborate with the Palliative Care team, primary care provider (PCP), and other providers to ensure coordination and continuity of care across settings and over time
  • Attend appropriate clinical meetings to serve as a resource for staff and to identify potential PCCS patients
  • Facilitates collaboration with the PCCS at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) to ensure continuity of care and coordinate shared UWMC-ML/FHCC PCCS meetings as needed
  • Provides patient and/or family with health education, counseling and referrals to other health professionals and community resources as appropriate
  • Participates as a key member of the interdisciplinary team through the development of collaborative and innovative practices and evaluation of patient care outcomes
  • Evaluates quality outcomes for the PCCS through participation in the development of palliative care quality indicators

Salary

The base salary range for position will be: $9,167-$15,000 per month ($110,000 - $180,000 annually) to be pro-rated based on FTE and commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
