Description

The Associate Director for Employer Relations at the University Career Center will develop and implement a comprehensive employer relations strategy, manage the Employer Partnership Program and Employer Advisory Board, and cultivate relationships with a range of employers to facilitate opportunities for students. Emphasizing networking and outreach, this role involves actively and consistently engaging with employers to build strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.

The Associate Director will collaborate with campus and community partners, provide leadership to the employer relations team, utilize data analytics to assess and improve engagement efforts and represent the University Career Center at industry events. Additionally, this position oversees event logistics and budgets, primarily the career fairs, consults with employers on recruitment strategies, and co-leads marketing and communication efforts to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the University Career Center's services. This role is crucial for advancing the mission of the University Career Center and enhancing student employability by aligning resources and strategies with the needs of both students and employers.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related field and five to seven years of work experience in a career center or similar environment OR Master's degree and three to five years of work experience in a career center or similar environment, preferably within a university setting; knowledge of employment processes (i.e. recruiting/hiring, training, performance management, etc.) and experience working in a high-volume office and overseeing a customer service function.

Preferred Education and Experience

Preferred experience includes a master's degree in business administration (MBA), higher education, or a related field for an advanced understanding of organizational behavior and strategic management. The candidate should have 5-7 years of experience in employer relations, career services, human resources, or recruitment, especially in higher education or corporate settings. Essential skills involve developing employer relationships, event planning, and executing career fairs, along with leadership experience in strategic planning and project management to enhance employer engagement and student employment outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive employer relations strategy aligned with the University Career Center's mission and goals.
  • Manage the Employer Partnership Program and Employer Advisory Board, along with other employer/career preparation programs.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with organizations and business sectors that historically have had little or no interaction with the career center and/or experience with hiring our students and graduates. Seek to connect these entities with the appropriate resources and personnel at the career center and/or the university.
  • Advise and counsel employers with regard to the most effective means of identifying potential job candidates to meet the employer's specific needs, including, but not limited to campus recruitment, job postings, internships, career fairs, class/organization presentations, and resume searches.
  • Collaborating with campus partners, including academic departments and student organizations, to coordinate employer engagement initiatives and recruitment events.
  • Providing leadership, supervision and guidance to the employer relations team, ensuring effective execution of strategies and initiatives.
  • Utilizing data analytics to assess the effectiveness of employer engagement efforts and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Consistently represent the University Career Center at industry conferences, networking events, and professional associations to enhance our visibility and reputation among employers. Occasional work outside of 8-5 will be required to attend various networking events.
  • Track job market demand, use of career services, and hiring results for students in various academic majors across all 7 schools; formulate strategies for achieving greater participation rates for those majors that underutilize available career resources. Create a solid plan to track employer engagement.
  • Co-lead marketing and communication efforts, including reviewing and assisting in the creation and distribution of an employer newsletter, marketing materials, and employer web content.
  • Manage event logistics including venue selection, catering, audio-visual equipment, signage, and materials preparation for employer events, primarily career fairs.
  • Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure events are executed within budgetary constraints.
  • Promote events through various channels including social media, email newsletters, posters, and campus announcements to maximize student participation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Remote Work Statement
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
