Description

Under general direction, develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity Managed PeopleSoft Hosting services. Implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Resolves database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues. Support system administration of PeopleSoft technology components such as WebLogic, PeopleSoft PIA, Tuxedo, Process Schedulers and Oracle databases.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience or associate's degree and 4 years of related experience or high school diploma and 6 years of related experience.



Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science or information systems or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Two years of the following:
  • Progressively responsible computer systems management and analysis experience. Experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle 11g-19C), which includes Oracle database replication, database migrations, and upgrades and experience with database backup and recovery (including RMAN).
  • Experience as a PeopleSoft DBA and/or PeopleSoft Administrator (PeopleTools 8.55+, Database upgrade/Data Management Tools, PeopleSoft Application/Tools Upgrade). Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Enterprise Portal, HCM, FMS, EPM, and/or CRM.
  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX Shell scripting and general understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and project management disciplines.
  • Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills.

Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization and handle fast-paced, dynamic, sometimes volatile environment.
One year of the following:
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel) – 1 year
  • Oracle DBA Certifications and Certifications in supported technologies
  • Experience integrating PeopleSoft with non-PeopleSoft Applications

Intermediate knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios, how Oracle acquires and manages resources, Oracle security management, both database and system performance tuning, Oracle data integrity. System Analysis & Design, Database Design, Physical Disk Storage, Data Security, Backup and Recovery, Change Control Management. Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring. Works well in a team and the ability to handle multiple projects deadlines.
Intermediate knowledge of PeopleSoft/PeopleTools, PeopleSoft system performance and tuning, Weblogic, Tuxedo patching and tuning. Works well in a team and the ability to handle multiple projects deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage PeopleSoft environments including installation, upgrades, patches, replication, data refreshes, performance tuning, and monitoring of Web and Application servers.
• Manage all production and non-production Oracle databases, including installation, upgrades, patches, backups and recovery, replication, archiving, security, tuning, disaster recovery, monitoring, and validation to support departmental and organizational needs.
• Proactively manage the database environment to identify and recommend alternatives to poorly coded applications, including consulting with end users and developers to recommend the most appropriate database solution. Assist application development with database design considerations. Assist in the designs of data security models to help protect the University's data. Comply with existing standards, document and communicate any system changes.
• Provide service and support determined by the current Service Level Agreements, including on-call support. Provide 2nd level support for Oracle database, PeopleSoft application and systems problems, working with IT personnel to resolve issues. 
• Perform impact analysis on all Oracle patches and upgrades and provide proposals for applying them effectively. 
• Perform impact analysis on all PeopleSoft and PeopleTools updates and provide proposals for applying them effectively. 
• Participating in on-call responsibilities & respond to / resolve emergency issues after hours via cell phone / pager & on site as necessary
• Other duties as assigned. 

Additional Information

  • Position location will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Location can be Fort Worth, TX or Richardson, TX.
  • Hybrid remote work environment available. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment.
  • Must have the ability to be on Richardson campus with 48 hours of notice.
