Description

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Success in the Jonsson School, the Director is responsible for the oversight, creation and implementation of outreach, recruitment, and engagement for all undergraduate (first-year and transfer) student programs. The Director works directly with students and academic departments and programs to ensure that the learning and engagement outcomes with our community, and industrial and partner organizations are met.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related progressive experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in related field preferred or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in community engagement, outreach or recruitment, and program development.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking.
  • Strong creative, strategic, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Works well in a team and can be an independent worker.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, social media).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Outreach
  • Collaboratively develop and implement as strategic plan for increased engagement with our community and partner organizations.
  • Organize and manage outreach events for the Jonsson School.
  • Work with student organizations, the Directors in the ECS Undergraduate Offices, and the Assistant Dean of Corporate Relations to provide timely and effective outreach opportunities for Jonsson School Student Organizations.
  • Oversee the organization and implementation of external outreach activities during E-Week.
  • Provide support and advice to academic departments and student organizations as they develop K-12 outreach activities with a detailed knowledge of relevant Texas state and nationwide STEM curricula standards.
  • Maintain an inventory of all K-12 and public outreach activities that the Jonsson School provides, collaborating with the Associate Dean of Research to provide opportunity options to faculty for proposal development.
  • Maintain a database of participants in the Jonsson School outreach activities.
  • Evaluate the outreach activities of the Jonsson School using qualitative and quantitative approaches including follow-up interviews with participants.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with UT Dallas offices for outreach events.
  • Market departmental and Jonsson School Career Outreach events to partner organizations and the community.

Recruitment
  • Work in partnership with the UT Dallas Office of Admissions and ECS Departments to develop a comprehensive undergraduate recruitment strategy.
  • Coordinate current and develops new recruitment activities for the Jonsson School; soliciting students, staff, and faculty participation; developing and assessing events and outcomes.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all admission-related questions.
  • Develop and implement a Jonsson School Campus visit/tour for prospective and admitted students and their families.
  • In collaboration with the ECS Office of Communications and Departments, develop and implement a marketing strategy for undergraduate recruitment using social media and other platforms.
  • Act as the liaison to community college advisors and students to facilitate a seamless transfer student transition.
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and new policies, practices and procedures related to transfer course equivalencies and/or substitutions as well as credit processing.
  • Act as a liaison to high schools to coordinate recruiting and transition initiatives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the outreach and recruitment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Recruitment & Student Success on undergraduate pipeline
  • initiatives.

Administrative Tasks
  • Lead and manage full-time/part-time staff and student workers; manage area budget. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Serve on Jonsson School and University committees (admissions continuity, scholarship). Provide presentations on services and opportunities for engagement.

Additional Information

REMOTE WORK FOR FUTURE AVAILABILITY - After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
