Description
To perform assignments, requiring advanced working knowledge of scientific methods in a specific discipline and in such areas as research, design or experimental testing. Responsible for assignments that require the technical knowledge to modify or adapt procedures and to meet special research requirements. Designs, assembles and operates equipment used in research. Performs detailed analyses, tests and operations. May prepare technical reports, computer programs, and project plans. May assist engineers or faculty members with specific phases of research projects. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's degree in field directly related to research – Two (2) years of experience/expertise performing research relating to a specified field of study – Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least eight years.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience or related field is preferred.
- Experience in functional neuroimaging:
- Preprocessing and pipeline development
- Analysis
- Familiarity with AFNI, FSL, SPM
- Experience with programming languages: R/Matlab/Python
- Shell scripting Linear models
- Multivariate methods
- Optimization
- Prediction
- Knowledge of data systems a bonus
- Strong background in statistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Member of a data science team to assist and lead with management and analyzing a large database consisting of functional images, physical biomarkers, and a host of neurocognitive measures on participants followed longitudinally. Assist with development of indices of brain health through machine learning algorithms and prediction models, as well as compete for funding for novel approaches to brain health models.
