About Us

Washington Permanente Medical Group (WPMG) is a clinician-led, self-governed and independent multi-specialty group practice, providing care to the more than 700,000 Kaiser Permanente patients in Washington state. We work unencumbered by traditional health care obstacles and without silos; prioritizing people over profits, collaboration over ego, and driven by a singular goal: our patients' health. At WPMG, we take care of the whole person, with a team to address the fundamental, social, and emotional needs that contribute to total health. We are clinicians motivated by the desire to make a purposeful difference in the communities we serve, and in how health care is delivered.

We are looking for people to join us who understand that being a leader doesn't always come with a job title; it's about who you are, what you believe, and how you show up every day.

  • People who work to know, respect, and guide their colleagues and patients.
  • People who focus on serving their team and the people they take care of by inspiring, including and holding themselves and each other accountable for everything they do.
  • People who have the courage to commit, improve, and work with others to find solutions to help make this the best place to give care and the best place to get care.

Job Summary:

Washington Permanente Medical Group (WPMG) is seeking a Program Manager to oversee and administer the Invest in People program—an application-based portfolio of projects sponsored by the WPMG CEO and Executive Medical Director (EMD). This role plays a critical part in supporting organizational strategy by guiding the execution of approved projects that align with our broader strategic goals.

The Program Manager (PM) serves as the central point of coordination between senior leadership, program participants, and the Cultural Advisory Group. This role involves program design, process implementation, communication planning, and direct project management. The PM ensures projects are launched effectively, supported throughout execution, and completed successfully—while maintaining consistent communication with executive stakeholders and aligning with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, refine, and manage all aspects of the Invest in People program, including application criteria, scoring rubrics, timelines, and progress tracking systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO, EMD, their direct reports, the Cultural Advisory Group, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of approved projects.
  • Provide comprehensive program and project management support throughout the project lifecycle, from intake through completion.
  • Serve as a flexible, hands-on project leader, offering consulting, coordination, or direct execution based on the needs of each individual project.
  • Partner with Finance to monitor program expenses and ensure compliance with funding guidelines; prepare and present quarterly reports to the WPMG Board of Directors.
  • Independently manage multiple projects using best practices in project and change management.
  • Represent the Invest in People program in cross-functional meetings and collaborative initiatives with KPWA partners.
  • Prepare timely reports, presentations, and other deliverables for diverse internal audiences.
  • Maintain program communications, including oversight of the program SharePoint site and inbox.
  • Provide guidance and training to others on tools and processes related to the program.
  • Uphold compliance with WPMG standards and code of conduct.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage up to executive leadership.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project tracking and reporting tools (e.g., MS Office, SharePoint, Teams).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience supporting senior management in healthcare, communications, business intelligence, or research.
  • Project or Program Management Certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM).

Core Competencies:

  • Accountability: Delivers results consistently and owns outcomes.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Works well with others, builds trust, and communicates respectfully.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champions new ideas and process enhancements.
  • Expertise: Demonstrates strong attention to detail, manages competing priorities, and shares knowledge effectively.
  • Service Excellence: Embodies KP's core values—Know Me, Respect Me, Guide Me.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $87,099 - $95,809 and will be based on factors such as education, training and experience.  This position is also eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).  Benefits include: medical and dental benefits, 401(k), life insurance, paid vacation and more.
