The Pathology Department of Wellstar Medical Group is looking for a full-time board-certified Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP) Pathologist to serve as Medical Director for the Kennestone Hospital laboratory in Marietta, Georgia. Expertise and/or fellowship training in Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, Hematopathology and previous experience directing an anatomic pathology service is preferred.
The Pathologist is expected perform 40% Administrative and 60% Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology service.
Duties will include but are not limited to.
• Serving as the pathology medical and CLIA Director
• Close collaboration with the laboratory director to maintain CAP and CLIA Accreditation Standards
• Close collaboration with the Lab Director and Anatomic Pathology Supervisor for the development and compliance with Anatomic Pathology workflows and procedures.
• Participation and supervision of Quality Assurance measures for all anatomic pathology cases and inter-laboratory comparison programs.
• Performing surgical pathology gross, microscopic, and final diagnosis rendering along with coding of surgical reports with pathology in rotation with other pathologists.
• Provide intraoperative consultation to surgical services
• Participate on hospital/departmental committees and hospital/departmental conferences as needed.
• Provide consultation to Medical Center and laboratory staff in matters of test utilizations, technical and result interpretation.
• Ordering/interpretation of appropriate immunohistochemical stains and special stains.
• Provide on-call services as designated in the monthly schedule.
• Participate in required continuing medical education (CME) to maintain licensure/privileges.
• Responsible for timely completion of LMS educational modules.
• Ensure compliance with federal statutes, College of American Pathologists and Joint commission requirements.
• Participation in System Pathology and Laboratory Medicine projects.
The successful candidate will join a group of 17 experienced pathologists for Wellstar Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service's nine not-for-profit hospitals located primarily in suburban Atlanta. The applicant must be Board-Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and be licensed or capable of obtaining a Georgia Medical License.
