Monday - Friday  Every 4th weekend  - working hours 8am - 6:30pm. Holiday Rotation required also. Shift: Day Shift    Position Reports to: Dietary Manager & Director     POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Nutrition Services Management Team, the Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment by properly washing dishes, utensils, equipment, and food service items. This position supports the Nutrition Services team by ensuring supplies are available and assisting with daily food service operations as needed. The Dishwasher plays an important role in maintaining department cleanliness, food safety standards, and providing quality service to patients, visitors, and staff.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Operates commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, trays, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment according to established sanitation standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the dish room, kitchen areas, storage areas, and assigned workspaces.
  • Ensures all dishware and equipment are properly sanitized and returned to appropriate locations.
  • Assists with maintaining adequate supplies of clean dishes, trays, and utensils throughout meal service periods.
  • Performs routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, emptying trash, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Follows all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and safety guidelines.
  • Properly handles and disposes of waste and recycling according to department procedures.
  • Assists with stocking food service items, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Supports tray line operations and meal service activities as assigned.
  • Assists Nutrition Services team members with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
  • Reports any equipment issues, safety concerns, accidents, or supply shortages to management.
  • Attends required food safety, allergy awareness, and department training sessions.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates professionalism when interacting with patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of responsibility as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous food service, healthcare, hospitality, or sanitation experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow sanitation procedures.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, dependability, and a commitment to providing quality service.
