- Operates commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, trays, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment according to established sanitation standards.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the dish room, kitchen areas, storage areas, and assigned workspaces.
- Ensures all dishware and equipment are properly sanitized and returned to appropriate locations.
- Assists with maintaining adequate supplies of clean dishes, trays, and utensils throughout meal service periods.
- Performs routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, emptying trash, and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Follows all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and safety guidelines.
- Properly handles and disposes of waste and recycling according to department procedures.
- Assists with stocking food service items, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Supports tray line operations and meal service activities as assigned.
- Assists Nutrition Services team members with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Reports any equipment issues, safety concerns, accidents, or supply shortages to management.
- Attends required food safety, allergy awareness, and department training sessions.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all hospital policies and procedures.
- Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates professionalism when interacting with patients, visitors, and team members.
- Performs other duties within the scope of responsibility as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous food service, healthcare, hospitality, or sanitation experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow sanitation procedures.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner.
