Wilson Health is seeking a friendly, compassionate, and customer-focused Nutrition Host/Hostess to join our Dietary Services team. In this role, you will provide exceptional service to patients by assisting with meal selections, ensuring physician-ordered diets are followed, and delivering meals with a positive, caring attitude. As an important member of the patient care team, you will help create a positive dining experience while supporting each patient's nutritional needs.
Department: Dietary ServicesEmployment Status: Full-Time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: 1st Shift – Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with every 4th weekend and holiday rotation (6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Reports To: Nutrition Services Manager Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Visit patients daily to obtain meal selections and assist with menu choices according to physician-ordered diets.
- Review diet orders to ensure meals meet nutritional and dietary requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, and the Nutrition Services team regarding meal preferences and special dietary requests.
- Deliver and retrieve meal trays in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
- Verify patient identification before meal delivery.
- Promote excellent patient satisfaction by responding promptly and professionally to patient requests and concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient meal selections and diet changes.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and assist with stocking supplies.
- Work collaboratively with Nutrition Services staff to provide efficient, high-quality patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous customer service, hospitality, food service, or healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered service.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds throughout the workday.
