Wilson Health is looking for a direct hire Orthopedic Center Registered Nurse for our location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio) area.

Working Hours: 36 hours per week (72 hours bi-weekly)
Shift: 6am-3:30pm or 8:00am-5:30pm (rotated between staff), NO CALL, WEEKENDS, OR HOLIDAYS
Position Reports to: Orthopedic Center Nurse Manager
Department Description: Wilson Health's Center for Orthopedics is the region's destination for high quality, state-of-the-art orthopedic procedures and services. The modern center is equipped with 6 dedicated pre- and postoperative surgical bays, and is staffed by leading board-certified orthopedic surgeons specializing in comprehensive and specialty care.
Job Summary: Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to pre-operative and post-operative patients in the hospital setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interviews patient and/or significant other and completes initial assessments in a timely manner.
- Adequately assesses and re-assesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
- Initiates PAT and PACU Phase I and II discharge planning to meet patient needs.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms requiring intervention and initiates appropriate action.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures.
- Assures accuracy of orders, including coordination of diagnostic test, lab work, etc.
- Administers and documents medication in a safe and timely manner.
- Demonstrates team approach, adapts between Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PAT efficiently.
- Performs treatments and diagnostic testing according to hospital policy and procedure and physician orders.
- Assists physician with tests and procedures (e.g., dressing changes, spinal injections, and regional blocks).
- Adheres to established standards of practice as dictated by ASPAN and engages in activities or behaviors that characterize professionals.
- Performs role of conscious sedation nurse following hospital policy and procedure.
- Notifies appropriate physician of any abnormal PAT / stat test results and documents accordingly.
- Accurately documents observations, intervention, and patient teaching according to hospital policy and procedure in a concise and pertinent manner.
- Recognizes and utilizes opportunities for health teaching of patients and caregivers as evidenced by documentation on pre-op and post-op assessment in EMR.
- Provides patient with information about surgical procedure.
- Gives information, updates or explanations to patients and their families as warranted
- Current Ohio Registered Nurse License and graduate of accredited nursing program
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or able to obtain within one year of hire
- Candidate must have similar experience or at least 5 years of Critical Care or Medical Surgical experience.
