Job Overview:
The Director – Data Science will lead a team that designs and constructs automated progressive analytic solutions with the goal of advancing and developing the strategic goals of Wind Creek Hospitality. These deep-learning systems should utilize forward-thinking predictive models, machine learning and robotic process automation to provide actionable insights and foresights in the areas of customer and gaming preferences, offerings, business efficiency and personalization.

What You'll Do:
- Translate business objectives into data and analytics solutions and, translate results into business insights using appropriate data engineering and data science applications.
- Oversee and manage a Data Science group, including vendor partners, and use understanding of our guests, business processes, products and competitors to support organizational growth.
- Ensure standards and guidelines are being used by team to develop re-usable common frameworks, model and components that address repeatable tasks and problem/data sets in specific industries or business functions
- Guide the team in the development of new insights, advanced modelling techniques, and data science capabilities
- Share learnings and drive adoption of best demonstrated practices within the Data & Analytics Dept. about theoretical and technical developments in the rapidly evolving data science field, collaborate with the open-source community, and work together to create a great working environment that attracts other great data scientists
- Be a thought leader at Wind Creek - predict future areas of innovation and show how it can be applied to us.
- Advise on the application of standards and methods and ensure compliance
- Take technical responsibility for all stages and/or iterations in a development project, providing method specific technical advice and guidance to project stakeholders.
- Understand, teach and supervise a wide range of data science techniques
- Help Wind Creek grow cutting-edge and innovative Data Science capabilities
- Document all processes and code. Maintain code repository accuracy.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven track record of leading Data Science team through successful growth or transition period.
- Excellent knowledge in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence areas.
- Experience with having shipped production, enterprise scale data products
- Strategic Consulting experience, with a track record of leading and collaborating on strategic initiatives, a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain and discuss mathematical and machine learning technicalities with colleagues and clients from other disciplines
- Interest in learning about business applications, business models and economics of machine learning and data technologies – you will have the opportunity to work with world-leading practitioners in this area
- Ability to collaborate with people at all levels and with multi-office/region teams
- Solid fundamental knowledge of supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning machine learning algorithms such as classifiers, cluster analysis, dimension reduction, regression, CNN, RNN, DQN, GAN, temporal difference methods, sequence modeling, NLP/NLU, word/doc embeddings, collaborative filtering, self-attention, transformers, etc.
- Experience with MLOps – scalable development to deployment of complex data science workflows
- Experience in machine learning frameworks and tools (e.g. scikit-learn, mlr, caret, H2O, TensorFlow, MXNet, Pytorch, Caffe/Caffe2, CNTK, MLlib) required
- Proficiency in Python or R required
- Experience with model explainability and interpretability techniques
- Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL
- Experience with cloud platforms required
- Experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, S3, MapReduce, Apache Spark is required
Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)
- High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, or any other related quantitative field AND three (3) years' experience in a Management position– required
- OR Seven (7) years' experience in a Management position– required
- OR Five (5) years' experience in a Management position with Wind Creek Hospitality– required
- Seven (7) years' experience building and managing larger data science teams– required
- Seven (7) years' experience with implementing and working with modern data science tools and platforms– required
- Three (3) years of experience managing data scientists – required
- Ability to work independently and juggle priorities to thrive in a fast-paced environment, while also collaborating as part of a team in complex situations
- Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
- Must have a valid and current State Driver's License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
- Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
- Must have a PGCB Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
- Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
