Salary Range: $146,635-$257,630

 

The Senior Director – Cloud Operations, will lead the development and execution of the Yusen Logistics cloud strategy, architecture, and operations. This role emphasizes scalability, security, compliance, and performance across a rapidly evolving technology landscape. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Application Development, Data, and Security—to implement modern DevOps practices, build resilient cloud infrastructure, and deliver outstanding experiences for internal stakeholders and customers. Your leadership will be instrumental in enabling the organization to scale efficiently and securely. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a technically adept leader, capable of defining and executing a long-term vision while mentoring high-performing engineering teams. You bring deep experience in cloud technologies and operational excellence, and you excel in driving complex, cross-functional initiatives that result in secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solutions at scale.

§   Cloud Strategy & Architecture:
  • Define and drive the organization's cloud strategy and long-term roadmap to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to inform strategic planning.
  • Establish cloud governance, financial management (FinOps), and performance monitoring.

 

§   Operations & Infrastructure
  • Lead the deployment, management, and optimization of cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Private Cloud).
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of cloud environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement in monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering practices.

 

§   Security, Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure all cloud environments meet security, privacy, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to implement best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Enforce governance frameworks for resource usage, access controls, and policy compliance.
  • Implement & enforce identity & Access Management policies.
  • Design and implement network security based on zero trust architectures.
  • Ensure data protection & encryption is in place.
  §   Data, AI & Infrastructure
  • Oversee enterprise databases, data lake infrastructure, and pipelines that enable analytics and business intelligence.
  • Enable DataOps practices by partnering with data engineering teams to automate data pipeline deployment, testing, monitoring, and rollback processes using DevOps methodologies
  • Establish observability and monitoring across data platforms and pipelines to ensure data freshness, availability, and performance, integrating tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Lead AI and machine learning platform initiatives across the Americas, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure to support advanced analytics and model deployment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, research, and business stakeholders to identify high-impact AI/ML use cases and translate them into deployable solutions.

 

§   DevOps & Automation
  • Promote and implement modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing.
  • Foster a culture of automation and operational efficiency across engineering teams.
  • Standardize and scale cloud operations through reusable frameworks and tools.
  §   Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing cloud engineering teams and technical leaders.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive engineering culture.
  • Align team objectives with organizational goals and deliver measurable results.
  §   Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product, Application Engineering, Data, and Security teams to support business initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and secure cloud solutions.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in technology planning and executive decision-making.
  • Travel overnight as required up to 40%.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • Experience in IT/technology, with at least 12+ years working with cloud and/or data teams.
  • Deep knowledge of IaC, CI/CD, Observability DevOps tooling, and cloud-agnostic design patterns.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling cloud-native tooling and frameworks in modern cloud environments (Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • Experience in container orchestration (Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Experience with cloud cost management / FinOps
  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise cloud solutions (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience in enterprise data platforms, integration, and governance.
  • Strong business acumen, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Experience in SC / Logistic industries preferable.
