The Advanced Manufacturing Solutions & New Technology Introduction Vice President will be responsible for leading and managing the company's Advanced Assembly, Manufacturing, and Test Process/Product Technology Roadmaps. Responsible for all aspects of company's Advanced Assembly/Manufacturing & Test Process/Product Technology Roadmaps. Lead and conduct discovery and development efforts with cross functional team made up from business unit engineering, design engineering, corporate strategy and site ops engineering. Day-to-day management of simultaneous projects, delivering solutions to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints. Foster innovative solutions to customer needs. Standardize outcome of new technology development to sustain in mass production environment. Interface with customer during pre-quote/sales support steps to win new business, managing technology introduction through targeted qualification of sites relating to assembly process, test process and general technologies that are either advanced or are new to industry and Flex. Ensure advanced manufacturing technologies also address the business needs to prevent escalation by introducing these manufacturing technologies through training and qualification of the sites connected to business unit specific needs.

What a typical day looks like:
- Develop annual/3 yr horizon technology roadmap based on assessed gaps.
- Gaps to be based on industry trends and needs, customer ask, and business unit forecast based on sales forecast, sales misses, site readiness and AME's own projections.
- Technology discovery and development should be balanced with existing budget and new budgets needed for resources including test vehicle and supplier development cost.
- Technology process deployment is for all business units and value add services organization.
- Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company's strategic direction.
- Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of manufacturing process development activities.
- Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department.
- Assure that department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame.
- Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its manufacturing technology leadership position.
- Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource/mentor.
- Assure that manufacturing process is designed for specific needs, but with wider applications/tolerances in mind.
- Hire and direct staff of senior group members to acquire necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments.
- Ensure implementation and refinement as required of formal process to support the product development process.
- Ensure that product development from design cross functional team is focused on meeting and exceeding the customer requirements and serve as manufacturable with expected/quoted yields.
The experience we are looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, Engineering or related discipline.
- MBA is strongly preferred.
- 10+ years in manufacturing, including at least 7 years in management roles.
- Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses Requires excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and networking abilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate and influence for positive outcomes. Business acumen and proven ability to improve/turnaround key financial results.
- Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving to continuously improve value. Ability to identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks or elimination of non-value-added processes).
- Requires strong innovation skills and creativity. Ability to influence and hold others accountable. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Must understand P&L.
- Must have following technical skills 1. Related to Data Center/Hyperscalers (CEC): Components: ASICs, CPUs, GPUs and complex BGAs, Optical Packages such Co-package optics (CPOs), Pluggable optics etc. PCB: PCB fabrication process and impact of VIPPO, Lamination, etc. PCBA: Deeper experience in SMT to Final assembly including Thermal management (Heatsink, TIM, Liquid & Cryo Cooling, Cold Plate, etc. Rework and guidance on conducting DOEs, etc.
- Related to Industrial and Embedded power & Automotive: Brazing, Welding, Conformal Coating, potting, joining (cu-cu and dissimilar metals), surface cleaning, Resistance Welding, plasma treating, busbars, high-voltage welding, laser-bonding, ribbon bonding, etc.)
- Related to Health Solutions: Micro-miniaturization; battery management, small form factor electronic devices, Reliability methodology, Advanced Inspection and Non-Destructive testing; Testing of medical devices and imaging/radiology equipment, etc.
- Related to Lifestyle & Consumer Devices: Various bonding/welding techniques (e.g. Plastics to Metal); Advanced dispending and jetting techniques, wire & cable management, wire harness and connectors, etc. Working with automation team on semi-fully automated systems including labeling, etching, printing on critical components. Working with VAVE team to include new rules/guidelines for all new and advanced technologies for above areas.
