Job Title: Process and Package Engineer
Location: Carrolton, TX
Hours: 8am-5pm | Mon-Fri
Salary: $95-110,000 + Benefits (401k match, health insurance, PTO, etc.)

Summary: The Process and Packaging Engineer will be responsible for seamless and efficient bulk pilot and fill line trials. Function as liaison between RID/Operations/Production to support formula development packaging, bulk and finished goods. This role is instrumental for transferring lab formulas from lab to production, developing, and optimizing production processes that efficiently enable successful production run.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support line trials by leading and tracking execution that identify potential issues, adjusting, as needed, and sharing the findings with respective stakeholders.
  • Support Quality and Operations with developing equipment specifications (e.g., fill weight, torque, seal test, crimping and setting target for commercial production runs).
  • Evaluate and determine suitable packaging for a product, as well as the compatibility of packaging components while reviewing the equipment and resources available that will ensure successful production runs.
  • Assess and evaluate packaging for new projects (NPD), changes in current packaging components and determining right packaging components for a product.
  • Coordinate packaging components and materials with the Operations, RID and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Support bulk pilot/ first bulk and fill production run including coordination with operations for batching and filling. Serve as technical liaison with validation specialists for OTC documentation.
  • Create manufacturing instruction, line trail protocol to identify process control parameters that are clear, minimize variation, and specific to product.
  • Develop equipment Process and Packaging line Workflow at different stages of product lifecycle.
  • Train Compounders and Supervisors on new processes and packaging procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with all RID scientists on formulation requirements for lab verification batches to ensure new formulation can meet release specifications at manufacturing and filled successfully.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering or R&D field, ideally within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry or a related sector.
  • A Master's degree in engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in CPGs, especially in skin care Home, Beauty, and Personal Care product technologies. Previous experience with scale up and aerosol products.
  • Proven experience in process or packaging engineering in a GMP environment with OTCs.
  • Knowledge of bulk processes/packing equipment principles and practices as well as hygienic and sustainability design.
  • Experience with designing solutions that not only protect products but also consider sustainability and the overall customer experience.
  • Knowledge of innovation management workflows in the personal care business
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment and be able to adjust your approach as needed.
  • Experience identifying cost-effective packaging solutions while ensuring they meet all functional and aesthetic requirements.
  • Able to provide critical thinking thought processes to implement effective problem solving.
  • Effective communication skills are both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills.
  • Project and time management skills to coordinate multiple work streams and timelines for projects for a team.
