HR BUSINESS PARTNER WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? This position handles Business Partner "BP" responsibilities under the guidance and direction from Business Partner Manager "BPM" for assigned departments within a division. This role provides basic HR Generalist expertise while partnering with HR Specialist in Compensation, Talent Acquisition and L&D. This role would assist the BPM in administering and managing colleague related matters such as; colleague retention, performance coaching and counseling, training, benefits, compensation, talent and succession planning, performance management, while providing this guidance to ensure consistency of the bank's policies and procedures. What you will do
- Partners with manager and supervisor level colleagues to provide support, guidance, and day-to-day input regarding Human Resources issues and initiatives.
- Provides advice to managers and supervisors through proactively surfacing and addressing issues and concerns.
- Communicates HR guidelines to managers and colleagues and ensures HR policies and processes are consistently communicated and administered throughout all business situations while balancing colleague needs and management and company.
- Assesses client needs regarding issues such as talent acquisition, retention, job and organizational structure, colleague development, etc.
- Consults with human resources functional specialists to develop multi-disciplined approaches and/or to strategize on solutions to issues that require functional expertise and direction.
- With oversight from the BPM, administers a variety of HR programs that include performance management, identification and development of high potential colleagues, job rotation and career development, internships, terminations (involuntary and voluntary), as well as partners with other HR specialists in the areas of compensation, benefits, recruiting, training and development, leaves of absence, diversity and new colleague orientation.
- Provides direction for the performance management process across the assigned business unit(s). Partners with managers to improve colleague performance by identifying and analyzing human resources related problems; recommends solutions to management and participates in the resolution of issues through coaching, counseling and career development.
- Resolves colleague relations issues fairly, swiftly and in compliance with applicable legal and company requirements to minimize potential liability. Consults with legal counsel as needed.
- Coordinates the Annual Officer Review (AOR) process for assigned client group to ensure consistency in rating system and administration of compensation awards.
- Provides input to all monthly, quarterly and annual reports such as turnover, exit interviews, colleague development plans, etc.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipates legislation, enforces adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Five years of human resources experience or three years of employee relations experience
- Two years of human resources experience in the financial services industry preferred
- Four years of basic computer experience required (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated employee relations skills including conducting and documenting investigations and coaching and counseling colleague and managers
- Ability to act objectively while coaching colleagues and management through issues that are complex, difficult, or emotional in nature
- Knowledge of HR functional areas including colleague relations, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits administration, performance management processes, career and organizational development
- Must have consultative, influencing, strategic thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues and use judgment that is consistent with the bank's standards, policies, practices or with regulations and laws
- Excellent project management, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to independently interact and build relationships with all levels of management
- Must be an effective team player and possess strong collaboration skills to manage issues with business partners and peers
- Ability to travel to different work locations
