Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • US citizenship, and residency near Huntsville, AL, or be willing to relocate
  • Ability to work in our Huntsville office up to full time, depending upon client needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in software quality assurance and application within an integrated test environment
  • Experience and understanding of systems engineering, as well as experience in design for quality
  • Experience in agile software and/or hardware development environments
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience developing and implementing acceptance test plans, writing quality requirements/SOWs/contracts, monitoring contract execution to include reviewing Contract Deliverable Requirement Lists (CDRLs) for Quality, Reliability, Production, and performing root cause corrective action (RCCA) and first article inspections
  • An active SECRET security clearance

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Air and Missile Defense in the Quality Engineering domain is a plus.
  • Experience with Government active production programs (US and/or FMS) is preferred.
  • Master's degree


Responsibilities

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Develop and implement quality strategies and plans with the ability to utilize systems engineering concepts to ensure components and software meet performance requirements.
  • Independently develop quality plans to support the USG as the lead system integrator for multiple configurations of hardware/software.
  • Develop quality requirements for associated contracts/SOWs applying quality best practices and ensuring hardware/software integration quality requirements are included.
  • Develop strategic quality integration metrics to support oversight and monitoring of hardware, software, and integration activities.
  • Independently perform and report trend analysis for hardware, software, and integration activities within all lab, assembly, contractor, and production facilities.
  • Develop white papers to outline recommendations for quality system improvements and production/integration gaps to support the USG in prioritizing requirement execution on a quarterly basis.
  • Support component and system-level qualification activities as necessary to ensure non-conformance/failures are identified.
  • Ensure proper Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) activities via a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) are performed on identified non-conformance/failures for both hardware and software failures. Develop and provide RCCA assessments for failures within the Lead System Integrator environment, ensuring preventative countermeasures are included.
  • Provide recommendations to mitigate risk and eliminate potential failure modes by supporting Failure Review Boards (FRBs) and Material Review Boards (MRBs).
  • Support Production/Pilot Line Validation activities providing independent assessments for quality portions and requirements within the validation.
  • Support Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs) by providing independent assessments for quality portions and requirements within the validation.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAIs) and report summary data with recommendations to the USG.
  • Support Acceptance Test activities and report summary data with recommendations to the USG. Track and monitor completion of AT activities, ensuring urgent issues are addressed prior to DD250.
  • Support Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs) and Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and report summary data with recommendations to the USG.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and waivers/deviations for their impact on product integrity, quality, and producibility, providing data analysis and reporting to USG leadership on recommendations for approval.
  • Evaluate design efforts to ensure appropriate quality, environmental, and performance requirements are included for both hardware and software development.
  • Review Contract Deliverable Requirement Lists (CDRLs) for Quality, Reliability, Production, etc. Provide technical expertise and assessment to support Government acceptance of CDRLs.
  • Mentor and provide recommendations to other Quality Engineers. Provide expert guidance on program milestone requirements, core quality engineering competencies, contract requirements package contents related to production/quality, product sell-off processes, and prime/sub-contractor quality management.
  • Develop briefing packages outlining quality and integration issues for senior leadership, ensuring coordination across multiple functional disciplines within the USG.
